It's been a long time since we've given you an update on the site status. Unfortunately, we (the admins) have been so preoccupied with various things in our lives that we haven't been able to give PhoAnime the attention it deserves. However, we aren't here to make excuses; we want to run our plans for the future of PhoAnime with you so you know what's going on.

First off, let's discuss a little something that is extremely important to us: ads. Now, we know you probably hate ads as much as we do, but they exist for a reason. Currently, we're making pocket change from our ads, something around $4 per day. Given the number of viewers, we should be making much more than this. So, in the coming days, we're going to be expanding this a little. We aren't entirely sure on exactly what we're going to do, but one thing we need to do is begin selling custom ads. More on this as it develops.

Next up, anime! Anime is the reason this site exists, so we have big plans for it. Currently, a lot of our videos are either broken, split up into parts, or require Microsoft(R) Silverlight(R) to play. The reason we are working to beef up our ad system is so we make enough money to afford our own hosting for our videos. Hosting videos ourselves would rid of our broken video problem, as well as give us the option to move to a higher format if we can afford it. The only problem is that we estimate the bandwidth transfer would be about 1 TB per day, amounting to almost $3,000 per month. Obviously, this is a lot of money; however, we believe that furthering our ad system can pay for this and more.

Also, we plan to host manga very soon. We have already developed our own manga viewer (which was given some testing via a few of our users, with extremely positive feedback). Our only problem is that we do not have hosting for the files. Hosting this content shouldn't be as expensive as hosting the anime, but it is still far out of our current budget.

We have some other plans, but they are further into the future than we can feasibly announce plans for. However, with the current plans mentioned, we hope to bring PhoAnime from an amateur state to a professional state, a transition many sites fail to do and ultimately lead to their demise.
