SynopsisRags Town is the garbage dump of Japan. The place where people who want to forget their pasts run to. In this town, where the rules strictly forbid asking about the past or getting to know people, there is small detective agency called S&A Detectives.
The story revolves around Ayamana, the inseparable pair of misfit wannabe detectives, the case Manami takes on impulse, and the trouble that arises from it. On the case they find a woman who is abnormally hot, and who is being chased by a bunch of women with guns. After being dubbed Sara, the detectives try and figure out just what is going on with her. At the same time, all over town teenage girls are burning up and turning into glass. The government is covering everything up, but the detectives, as well as a nosy reporter and the local police, are determined to find out what is happening.

Shu
The head of S&A Detective Agency. He is a private detective who was once a devoted cop, and though his title may sound good, he's actually a jack-of-all-trades in Lags Town. The whole city depends on his impressive and wide-ranging skills. He seldom drops by the office. He's more of a rootless wanderer who spends every night in a different woman's bed. He's a man with a cool attitude toward everything, who never shows his true face to anyone.
Akira
A “self-styled” 19-year-old who serves as Shu's partner at S&A Detective Agency. He actually manages the agency in place of Shu, who is never there. He's the ultimate handyman, taking care of the daily cooking, accounting, cleaning, and even walking the dog. He understands Shu better than anyone, and he serves as the conscience of the agency, trusted by assistants Ayaka and Manami as well.
Manami
The uninvited assistant of S&A Detective Agency. Influenced by a TV series, she longs to be a “detective” and finds her ideal in Shu, whom she happened to come into acquaintance with. She's made herself an assistant, but soon becomes disillusioned by Shu's laziness and the lack of drama-style thrills in her work, being made to search for people's pets all over town. She's an idle girl who is just spinning her wheels because she messes up everything by acting before thinking.
Ayaka
The receptionist of S&A Detective Agency. She dropped out of school and drifted over to Lags Town. After Shu came to her aid, she has settled down at the agency. She spends every day surfing the Web compulsively as she handles incoming calls, with a particular passion for sites that discuss urban legends. She also loves the new snacks that are always being unveiled on convenience store shelves.
