SynopsisThis series takes place in a time roughly equivalent to the 1930s in our world. The world is divided into two cultures by a towering mountain range and huge river, and at the time of the story, the two cultures have been at war for hundreds of years. Allison, an air force pilot, and her childhood friend Will (pronounced Vill), who has a photographic memory, end up stealing an airplane and chasing some kidnappers across the river into the other country. Fortunately, they speak both languages...

Allison Whittington
The main female protagonist of the series' first part. Pilot of the Roxche air force and daughter of a military officer who died during the war, she was raised in an orphanage along with Wil. An impulsive and daring girl who has a talent for getting herself in trouble. In the second half of the story, Allison gives birth to Lillia with Wil whose name has been changed due to becoming a secret agent. She still dates Wil, but has kept his true identity a secret from Lillia.
Wilhelm Schultz
Allison's childhood friend, and the second protagonist of the series' first part. A scholar who has the ability to memorize things instantly and also is skilled at firearms. Wil does not share Allison's sense for adventure, but is usually dragged along by her.
Carr Benedict
A pilot in the Sou Beil air force who became friends with Allison and Wil, and always ready to help them when needed.
Fiona
The sole survivor of the small country of Ikstova's royal family, who decided to leave her secluded life after meeting Allison, Wil and Benedict.
Treize Bain
16 (17 in the third arc) year-old son of Carr Benedict, formerly of Sous-Beil, and Fiona, also known as Queen Franchesca of Ixtova. Has a twin sister named Merielle whom he argues frequently with (especially regarding firstborn claims) and rarely wins against.
