Welcome to the Phoanime chat community!  Our best advice for enjoying a good chat experience without getting into any trouble is all in how you think. Ask yourself if what you’re about to type and post on the chat is something that a user as young as 10 years old should read. We say this because that’s just how young some users on Phoanime are.

Therefore, we ask you please respect all users and keep the chat PG-13 clean. Our list of rules is as follows:

1.) English only. Phoanime has decided to create an English-only environment due to past complaints of comments made in other languages.

2.) No advertising or asking for streaming sites on the chat. Examples include (but are not limited to):

- Advertising/Posting other anime streaming sites or even their names

- Asking the chat to post other anime streaming sites or their names

- Advertising ANY link with an affiliate ID attached to it to make money or get credit.

- Advertising other forums / communities

- Using the chat to advertise your personal websites

- Adult sites or sites with strong sexual content (you will be banned on first offense for this).

- Links to sites with virus/Trojans, worms, etc. (you will be banned on first offense for this).

You may post links that give information on an anime (such as Wikipedia), articles, news reports, PG-13 videos, and other neutral sources.

3.) No spamming. Also, do not type only one word per post on the chat box to seek attention to them.

4.) No excessive profanity. Even if the word you typed was filtered out (*), it doesn’t give you the right to type like that continuously. Trying to fake the filter will be seen as a form of trolling.

5.) No racism.

6.) Do not promote the use of drugs or Marijuana.

7.) No explicit role playing (RP). Do not ever engage in cyber in the chat box. Take such material private, if you really must do it.

8.) No Trolling / Flaming. Trolling is when one makes a comment for the purpose of stirring negative reactions amongst the group chat. Examples of trolling that are prohibited are (but are not limited to):

- Real/Fake spoilers of anime or manga. When giving real spoilers for negative reactions or fake spoilers for any reason, this is seen as a form of trolling.

- Using more than one user account (or as an Anon) and talking to yourself or others while trying to appear to be two different people on the chat (Moderators & administrators can see your IPs, so we can tell easily if you do this).

- Registering offensive names solely to ridicule other users.

- Hiding as an anon to ridicule other users in an attempt to be anonymous while doing so.

- Saying things solely for the reason of trying to get a negative reaction from others for your enjoyment.

9.) No adult material or sex talk. We strongly prohibit the posts of:

- YouTube videos not meant for a PG-13 crowd.

- URLs linking to adult material or sites having adult material.

- Sexually enhanced conversations. Exceptions are conversations relating to medical conditions or those of an intellectual nature that is appropriate for a middle school classroom. However, engaging in strong sexual content with other users is against the rules. There are users as young as 10 that use Phoanime. Please take this into consideration.

Such violations are eligible for any user to be banned on the first offense.

10.) No adult pictures or extreme, sexual descriptions on your Chatango profile. If we see you have…

- a picture of a naked person, drawing, or anything relative to that as your profile pictures

- A profile description (that pops up when highlighting your name/picture with a cursor) showing sexual material not suitable for a PG-13 chat group

You will be asked a minimum of one time to change it to something appropriate for a PG-13 chat.

11.) Do not disturb or insult administrators, moderators, uploaders or linkers to intentionally give them a difficult time. Examples include (but are not limited to):

- Badgering staff about video issues (many of these problems are reported automatically, so we will eventually get to it. Use the report button to report videos with visual/audio problems).

- Arguing with staff about rules or questioning authority

- Asking staff to make you a moderator or asking how to be one. You do not come to us. We will make announcements or come to you.

- Intentionally acting in a way where you’re trying to bend around the rules or create an atmosphere that entices others to break rules (trolling).

12.) Do not engage in personal disputes on the chat. Take them private.

13.) Do not post any personal information on the chat. Examples of this include (but are not limited to):

- Full names

- Phone numbers

- Home addresses

- Email addresses

- Describing personal information about users in a sexual way

14.) Do not type in all caps. Also, pLeAsE dO nOt tYpE lIkE tHiS.

15.) Your font size should be clearly readable and only be a maximum 14 PT. Do not try to seek attention to your posts by making your font bigger than everyone else (this includes emoticon sizes).

16.) No anime / manga / movies spoilers.

17.) Do not try to act as a moderator or administrator when you are not. Do not try to mimic their nicknames. Such offenses may lead to a temporary or permanent ban.
